Club General Manager

Update from The Committee:

This is an update to the recent announcement of the appointment of a Club General Manager.

We advertised the role on Indeed and had a total of 23 applicants of which 3 were shortlisted and interviewed.  The Committee are pleased to announce that they have appointed Cher Newton to the position of Club General Manager and she will start immediately. Cher has been around the Club for a few weeks and many of you will now know her.  She has a wealth of hospitality and licensing experience and has been able to demonstrate an ambitious plan to develop the Club further.

Phil Smith’s role remains unchanged – today is his last shift before he finally goes off to have his hip operations after a false start a few weeks ago!  Once he’s back, he will still be undertaking most of the tasks that he’s being doing for the past 3 years that have led to the significant growth of the Club’s revenue and reputation.

As outlined previously, neither Phil nor any of the Committee have the skills and experience in hospitality to take the Club forward to the next level.  We are fast approaching being a £1m turnover business and we need to have the correct management in place to reflect this – someone with the depth of experience to develop the Club into the venue of choice for the Bilton community and beyond.  Cher’s role will be to focus on business development and growth, financial systems and controls, staff training and development and improving our overall customer experience as well as managing our digital strategy and communications.  This role will also free up a significant amount of time from Geoff and Alan who both have day jobs and simply can’t continue to devote the time needed for the scale of operation we’ve now become.

I hope you will join us in welcoming Cher to the Club and in wishing her all the best in her new role and also in wishing Phil all the best for his op and a speedy recovery.

Thanks again for your continued support
